The Viscose Environment

plant protection

The Viscose commitment to innovation has been evident since our inception in 1892. At the core of today’s Viscose culture is the commitment we have made to protect the environment and reduce our carbon footprint.

We will continue innovating to improve our recycled content levels, on our journey towards achieving sustainability in all that we do.

Future investments will build on our already strong eco-credentials as a manufacturer of compostable and biodegradable, tamper-evident packaging solutions. We continue our critical research into plastic alternatives and to developing closed-loop supply chains.

A reduction in our carbon footprint is everyone’s responsibility. 84% of carbon emissions emanate from just three sources: Power, Transport and Buildings (Source: www.wwf.org.uk). At Viscose we are developing our product offerings, environment and working practices to tackle all three. Our manufactured product range is also evolving as technology dictates, for us to provide locally sourced, environmentally friendly, tamper evident solutions with biodegradable or closed-loop economy properties.

Viscose has a strong commitment to reducing its carbon footprint by developing environmentally friendly packaging and tamper evidence solutions. Available in a range of materials including self-shrinking biodegradable Cellulose, heat shrink compostable PLA (Poly Lactic Acid) and 100% recyclable PET. We are also working towards providing environmentally considerate, closed loop products, eventually in rPET.

recycling tree

Viskrings are our core product made from extruded, plant-based cellulose, meaning the main ingredient in these bands is wood pulp obtained from renewable sources. Our seals are bio-degradable and home compostable allowing them to enter the food waste instead of disposing of them through conventional landfill waste-streams.
